About

Thanks for stopping by!

My name is Sriram Ramgopal and I am from the Greater Boston area. Photography has been a passion ever since I first ‘borrowed’ a Polaroid camera from my parents in 1997.

In my photography, I try to capture the unmistakable signs of human presence. Whether or not people are present in the photograph itself, every image contains small clues that they have left behind – indelible evidence that human life has indeed left its mark on our surroundings. Capturing the rush of human movement through its static environment gives me a chance to record a fleeting moment – a chance meeting of human dynamism with the stillness of the world around me.

I have had the honor of having work exhibited in shows and publications. Some of my earlier work were featured in a show at a local Starbucks Cafe in Andover, Massachusetts. Later, several photographs were exhibited in ‘A Lens Towards Peace,’ presented at Tufts University in 2004. Some of my pieces were awarded with medals by the Boston Globe Scholastic Art and Writing awards. More recently, a photograph of mine was featured in the July 2008 edition of Open Letters Monthly.

I graduated with a medical degree in 2011. I am currently preparing for a residency in pediatrics. My curriculum vitae is available for download here.

The photographs shown on this website were taken on a variety of media, both digital and film. All work is Copyright 2011 © Sriram Ramgopal. All rights reserved.
